Alella, Barcelona
A family home is built on a steep and corner plot. This way, vehicle access is located at the lower part, while pedestrian access is situated at the upper part.
On a lot with a remarkable slope, stands this house designed and designed for a couple with two children.
The lot overlooks two streets, forming a corner, with a considerable slope so that it has been decided to make access for vehicles on the lower part of one of the two streets and make access for pedestrians on the side high of the other This decision simplifies the movement of earth and the morphology of the built house itself.
From the upper street you access the lot and from the entrance landing you go down via stairs to the level of what is the ground floor of the house. Here is the hall that also houses a courtesy bathroom and a single-family elevator that communicates with the upper floor and the lower floor.
From this hall there is a wide corridor that leads to the kitchen with views of the garden and the side street and the dining-living room that occupy the entire facade of the house. From this level, you also reach the general garden of the house and the swimming pool, which, by means of a slope, reach the lower limit of the lot. From the dining room there is access to a small but friendly patio, suitable for outdoor dining.
In the living room there is a space dedicated to the library and a fireplace.
Either by the staircase that reaches the hall and continues its course to the basement floor, or by the elevator, you can access the first floor where the main bedroom is located at the front of the house with its own bathroom. Likewise, and with a facade on the sides of the building, there are the children's bedrooms and a large playroom with access to the upper part of the garden at the entrance level, through a wooden bridge, which allows children to play outside when the weather permits and, always inside at other times of the year.
The basement floor has access through the garage that has the entrance to the lower part of the lot. Thus, by taking advantage of the slope of the site, it is possible to obtain spaces without large levels of excavation.
In this basement, in addition to the garage, there is the laundry and ironing room, a pantry and a toilet. Access occurs either by the general staircase of the house, or by means of the elevator. With this arrangement, unloading the supermarket or suitcases after a trip is much easier and more comfortable, since the distribution of these items can be done in a programmed manner on each floor.
The exterior treatment of the house has been solved with the technique of the ventilated facade with a final covering of a piece of fired Cenia marble, which surrounds the entire volume of the building.
Finally, the roof is resolved as a flat one with rainwater overflows for moments of intense downpours.
